FANUC Series 0i-MODEL D/0i Mate-MODEL D The addition of CONNECTION MANUAL(HARDWARE)

1. Summary

Some of I/O units for Series 30i-B applied for I/O Link i are available for Series 0i/0i Mate-D as I/O Link slave I/O. Please notice that they can not use the I/O Link i communication and some of I/O Link i functions.
This document describes the notices in case of using the I/O units for I/O Link i in combination with FANUC Series 0i/0i Mate-D.

2. Available I/O units

I/O units available for 0i/0i Mate-D are as below

*Note This I/O is the I/O Link i version of the I/O unit for 0i

Below specifications of the I/O units for I/O Link i are the same as the specifications of I/O units for I/O Link.

• Power supply rating
• Install conditions
• Mounting arrangemen

 

4. Notices in case of using the I/O units for I/O Link i in combination

WARNING
An I/O unit may not operate normally due to a control unit, I/O unit, or input power failure, or communication error. To prevent accidents even in this case, design the machine to operate safely by making a safety circuit outside the I/O unit.
All DO signals of an I/O unit are designed to be turned off if a system alarm occurs in the control unit which controls the I/O unit, or if the power to the control unit or I/O unit is turned off. However, it cannot be guaranteed that DO signals of the I/O unit will certainly be turned off. Therefore, manage the signals related to safety by making a safety circuit outside of the I/O unit. The dual check safety function can be used to detect a single failure in the safety-related section. For details of the dual check safety function, refer to the FANUC Series 0i-MODEL D Dual Check Safety Connection Manual (B-64303EN-4).

4.1 I/O Link communication
In case the above I/O units for I/O Link i are connected to FANUC Series 0i/0i Mate-D, the communication with them are only I/O Link communication. I/O Link i communication is not available.
4.2 Maximum number of groups (per channel)
No change. It is the same number as I/O unit for I/O Link.
4.3 Assignment of the I/O Link
No change. It is the same assignment as I/O unit for I/O Link
4.4 Cables
Electric cable, optical fiber cable, optical adapter and signal divider for I/O Link can be used.
Optical adapter for I/O Link i can not be used.
4.5 Functions of I/O Link i
Functions specific to I/O Link i (Status alarm function, detection of error unit, and so on) are not available.

4.6 Mixing usage of different type I/O units
It is available to mix the different group type I/O unit on the I/O Link. (For example: group0 is I/O unit for I/O Link i, group 1 is I/O unit for I/O Link.)

WARNING
It is not available to mix different type of modules in the I/O module for connector panel and I/O module for connector panel type-2. (For example, the configuration which is the basic module for I/O Link i and the extension module for I/O Link is not available.) When the different type is connected, there is a possibility that DO becomes abnormal. And there is a possibility that the abnormality of the DO causes an accident.

Combination of the different type (This combination can not be used)

4.7 Connecting the protective ground terminal
In case using I/O units for I/O Link i, the protective ground terminal must be connected to ground. Connecting to the position of protective ground terminal of each I/O is as below.
